Uncertain Stories
Uncertain Stories publishes beautiful books of new short stories.
We believe in the value of a well-written short story — most of all when they're printed on paper — as the perfect antidote to the stress, chaos, and uncertainty of modern life.
Our stories don't precisely fit into any genre (they're uncertain), but they usually have just a little supernatural or speculative fiction to them. They're the kind of stories that take place more-or-less here, more-or-less now. But not quite…
Little Uncertainties
As well as publishing anthologies, we've also created the Little Uncertainties — small books that we give away free through bookshops and cafes to help spread the love of short stories. Find out more about those here.
Who we are
Based in Scotland, Uncertain Stories is a collaboration between editor Rob Redman, who has been publishing short fiction since 2010 at The Fiction Desk, and the artist Lucy Scott.
We don't use generative AI in our books (or anywhere else): our stories and our artwork are created by people.
Our authors include both newcomers and masters of the genre, people like David Frankel, Eva Carson, and Mark Taylor.
Information for the book trade
Our first anthology is available now, and we're sending copies of our free Little Uncertainties to bookshops around the UK. For more information, please see our trade distribution page.
